A Great Golf Guidebook "The best of all things Golf" blends a great golf reference book and interesting personal stories from a person who loves golf. Primarily this is a great advice source for a golfer; from novice to a veteran. Beyond this, it is a friendly comfortable read, as if you were walking alongside Jack as he relays what he has experienced and enjoyed in his years of playing golf. Numerous color photos on high-quality gloss pages throughout the book furthered my experience of the book. Reading the inside perspective on courses Jack Hammel has played is captivating - following his sometimes hole-by-hole commentary about playing renowned courses across the United States and around the world. I really enjoyed reading about the courses Jack encountered in Scotland and Ireland. He tells of personal encounters at the tough holes and the play he experienced. Always there is attention to background information and history. His writings not only chronicle the courses that challenged Jack, the book includes many sidebar insights into places to stay, restaurants and points of interest. One learns from Jack’s perspective, the best golf architects, the best golfers, the best golf books, the best golf movies. We hear about Jack’s home golfer treat, including his golf, antiques, reproductions and other decor. I found that "The best of all things Golf" guided me into perspectives and accounts about golf I have yet to experience. This was a worthwhile purchase. Read more
