About the author
Thomas John Papadimos is a Greek-American from Toledo, Ohio. He is a retired U.S. Navy Captain, serving over 22 years as a medical officer. He has been a Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at The Ohio State University, the University of Michigan, the University of Toledo and has been a visiting professor in the Departments of Anesthesiology at Attikon University Hospital, Athens, Greece; and Wenzhou Medical University, Wenzhou, China.
He received his B.S degree from Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio; his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio, Toledo; and his Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health. He is board certified in anesthesiology, critical care medicine, and general preventive medicine He has over 400 publications, including manuscripts, books, book chapters and scientific abstracts.
He has been named teacher of the year on three occasions and received a Fulbright Scholar Award to the National and Kapodistrian University Athens in 2021, which also awarded him an Honorary Doctorate in Medicine. He has been married for 45 years and had three children and three grandchildren.
