About the author

The idea for this book was born out of a tribute to my wife, Mary.  As you will read in the Introduction, she made a selfless decision for the good of our family, which had a huge impact on me.  As a result, I promised myself to remove my need to be right with her, which meant taking my ego out of any issues we faced as a couple.

In time, I realized my ego wasn't limited just to my relationship with my wife, but in fact, it was present in all of the reactions to stressful moments I faced on a daily basis.  This led me to another epiphany to remove my need to be right with other people and other situations, and the concept of taking ego out of it began a life of its own with me.

I am not a writer, but I have written a book about the way I try to react to stress and make decisions.  This may be the only book I ever write, but having enjoyed the journey and process of self awareness so much, I hope not.

Ideals are exemplary goals unable to be fully mastered, which is how I view Take Ego Out of It.  My name is Gregory Ellison.  My titles include Husband, Father, Son, Brother and Friend.  It is my hope you enjoy reading Take Ego Out of It as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Gregory Ellison lives on Hilton Head Island, SC with his wife and three children. This is his first book.
