About the author

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Leslie lives in Miami, Florida with her husband, 3 children and their crazy hyper dog, Luna! She enjoys hanging out with her family on the boat in the middle of the ocean or enjoying a day at the beach. Having girl's night with her friends, traveling with her family, spending mommy daughter time with her beautiful girls, enjoying and cherishing her SonShine, having date night with her hubby and attending and cheering really, really loud at her kids sporting events is what makes her smile and love life!

She is an Educational Audiologist and absolutely loves her job, students and their families! When she is being a BOSS Educational Audiologist, she laughs endlessly with her coworkers and most importantly, she brings smiles to her students thru the gift of hearing and technology. Watching their eyes light up because they can finally hear their teacher and their peers clearly, is what makes her heart smile!

Survivin' was created because she has always believed that moms should never feel ashamed of the way they "mom" or compare themselves to other moms they see in real life or on social media. Leslie became a mom at a very young age, but she was always reminded by her mom, aunts and grandma, "You got this Les, so never give up!". Because of their constant encouragement, she reminds her girlfriends that each day is a NEW day and no matter how bad they think their day is going or how bad it went, there is a 99.99% chance there is another mom out there somewhere in the universe who's day makes their day look like a pebble at the beach.

She reminds them that they SURVIVED the day so that calls for a celebration! Have an ADULT beverage and DO NOT feel bad about it, eat dessert for dinner, eat your kids snacks, ALL OF THEM, or simply take a nap and don't feel bad for doing it.

Being a mom is one of the most rewarding jobs and one of the hardest jobs AT THE SAME DAMN TIME, but we BOSS up and make it memorable if nothing else!

Overview

So today, your 3 year old decides that they don't want to eat the beautiful breakfast you made, he wants peanut butter and hotdogs, and that means, smear the hotdogs in peanut butter. Your 7 year old has decided that today is the day she wants to cry for absolutely no reason at all regardless of how much begging, bribing and reasoning you do and every time she cries it gets louder and more shrill. Oh, and your 14 year old has dyed her hair pink and made wings on her eyes and thinks she is going to school like that.

All of this is happening while you are trying to pack 3 lunch boxes, iron your clothes and get all 3 kids in the car in the next 15 minutes or EVERYONE is late! That my friends is what we call SURVIVIN'! We make things happen! We Boss up! We don't complain and we execute the plan with precision and tact! This is what moms do every single day!

Some days are long! Some days are FANTASTIC! Some days we just want to give up and throw the entire day away. If you don't know, now you know that being a parent is hard work. Being a mom is even harder. But when we are able to survive the ups and downs that life throws at us as parents, we are stronger than we were the day before and always smarter than our child because we learned from that shit!

Survivin' gives moms the encouragement they need to know that life isn't perfect. It reminds them that what they see on social media isn't reality, but what they do every single day is acknowledged! It uplifts moms to know that their life is honest and 100% real because we have all been there! It takes a village to raise kids and it takes a mom to raise a mom! Survivin': It's Just What We Do!

Description

This comedic memoir is full of all of the ups and downs of being a mommy and Survivin’ life with our kids in tow. I dive into breaking down the classic tantrum, tackling the back to school shenanigans and frustrations, family trips, the Rona, puberty, the beginning the middle and the continuation of parenthood even after they leave the house, along with all of the things in between.
It’s a compilation of my own experiences, my girlfriends, their friends and friends of friends of friends, experiences being a mommy and trying to hold it all together one day a time.
Survivin’ these kids is not easy! It can easily cause us to curse, shout, scream, cry alone in a bathroom or closet, sing, dance or possibly punch someone in the throat(well threaten to at least). But no matter what, we always make it thru! Survivin’: It’s Just What We Do!
