Description

Start from Strength Prevention Experience Guide: Student Edition is a 30-lesson learning experience for students in grades 7-12. Start from Strength is the experience built from the Trait-Based Model. Trait-Based provides the developmental architecture. Start from Strength is how students encounter it through relevant stories, reflection, practice, and choice. The guide helps young people discover ten human Traits organized across Grit, Balance, and Grace, recognize how those Traits can respond under pressure, and use them to make healthier decisions in real life. Rather than relying on fear alone, the experience addresses deeper needs that can influence risk, including identity, belonging, acceptance, relief, confidence, and purpose. Across six modules, students examine shadow expressions, emotional awareness, critical thinking, relationships, habits, refusal skills, uncertainty, gratitude, goals, and meaningful living. Stories, reflection prompts, Strength Sparks, practical exercises, and three Growth Checkpoints connect insight with everyday choices while supporting honest self-discovery. Students are not reduced to scores, mistakes, diagnoses, or behavior. The central message is clear: every student has strengths worth discovering, an identity worth protecting, and capacities that can be practiced throughout life.
