"Small Indulgences" is the result of my love for all things mini and my passion for the confectionery arts, and the crossing of these two paths . This book documents my journey through the world of mini treats and tiny sweets, including recipes, photos, and stories to inspire and delight. But the journey doesn’t stop here - visit my blog (, which was the inspiration for this book, for many, many, many more small indulgences. It's not the size that counts; it's how you eat it.


Good Things Come to Those Who Bake, and "Small Indulgences" came to me in the midst of preparing 24 mini-cheesecakes for a Christmas party. I'd spent the previous year churning ideas for the perfect bakeshop over and over in my head - something unique, yet mainstream at the same time. I tested a variety of approaches, products, sales techniques - all with varying degrees of success, but nothing felt quite right. Until it hit me! What I love doing most - making mini desserts in maximum variety. Mini cakes (i.e., cupcakes), mini cheesecakes, mini breads, danish, croissants, the list goes on and on... my love for all things mini and my passion for the confectionery arts finally crossed paths and "Small Indulgences" was born. This book documents my journey through the world of mini treats and tiny sweets, including recipes, photos, and stories to inspire and delight.  

About the author

Jeanine Reed is a baker, writer, runner, and all around great gal. Her love of confections and desire to spread that love is the driving force behind her book and blog, Small Indulgences. Dividing her time equally between eating sweets and burning them off, she was challenged with coming up with a way to enjoy both, thus “Small Indulgences” was born. Jeanine studied Baking and Pastry at the The International Culinary Schools at The Art Institute of Philadelphia. Her confectionery creations have been featured in print in the book 1,000 Ideas for Decorating Cupcakes, Cakes, and Cookies by Sandra Salamony and Gina M. Brown, and numerous times online in the popular blog Cupcakes Take the Cake ( Jeanine’s own blog, “Small Indulgences,” on which this book is based, is available for your reading pleasure at, and is chock full of recipes, ideas, stories, and photos to inspire and delight. Jeanine currently resides in southern New Jersey, with her feline taste-tester, Gandalf the Gray. She likes pina coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
