About the author
Karen Leary is a U. S. Navy veteran. She worked in the Secretary of the Navy's office (Pentagon) and in the Navy's Office of Information (Pentagon) during the Vietnam War era. After military service, she earned her Bachelor's degree in K-8 education and, subsequently, her Master's degree in school administration. She is a former public-school teacher and retired school principal.
Her teaching and administrative assignments included working in schools with culturally and linguistically-diverse populations, suburban neighborhood schools, in schools housing autism, gifted and behaviorally challenged programs, and in a communications magnet school.
As an adjunct professor (University of North Carolina, Charlotte NC and Heritage College, Toppenish, WA and City University, Seattle, WA), she taught undergraduate education courses and graduate-level administration courses.
As certified trainers in William Glasser's "Control Theory and Reality Therapy", Karen Leary, and her husband Scott, are educational consultants who provide trainings for schools and school districts on topics such as positive classroom discipline, class meetings, and restitution.
After retirement from public education she served as a Field Supervisor for K-12 student teachers.
Karen is a wife, mother, and grandmother. She and her husband reside in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
