Overview
Literally, this book is a guide for the aspiring political candidate on how to earn my vote, with particular emphasis on improving the campaign process and improving the process of life. The book also serves as an informational supplement for the "average" American voter and to a lesser extent provides dog-lovers with a taste of my dog's views on politics in America today, albeit he does not have much to say, but nevertheless is the reason this book was written.
Description
In addition to the information contained in the "Short Description," Ruff-Around Politics addresses issues pertaining to campaign protocols, voter registration and identification, national and world security, the media's role in politics, and matters of "life." Also, and in some regards most importantly, those who are blind are encouraged to consider involvement in American politics and government because of their unique internal capacities as human beings, and because, according to an interview I heard with a blind American man, those who are blind are routinely told they are not "able" to do things that those with vision can do. As the blind man said and I wholeheartedly agree, people who have the desire and determination to accomplish something can be successful if they apply themselves with an attitude of success rather than failure. This book soundly embraces that philosophy and specifically to and for those who are blind. Of course there is plenty of related information which pertains to those of us with vision should pay attention to and hopefully will realize some benefit from. It all really depends on whether or not we, as a civil people, will remain complacent with things as they are or if we will work together to improve life in America . . . for our children, especially.
About the author
Thank you for taking your time to read this. My name is Billy and I am a semi-retired newcomer to politics and decided to try and make a contribution to American society in the interest of my children and grandchildren. Age brings with it knowledge and at times even wisdom, especially the recognition that life is short and affords us all opportunities to explore and capitalize on in the interest of leaving our offspring a better world in which to live. After spending 35 years working mostly in the field of quality management, I got a crash-course in politics after being exposed to C-SPAN, then falling into the snake pit of cable television news, and finally finding the family-friendly media process of radio talk that put everything politics into perfect perspective. A good portion of this book was conceived while walking my dog Buster, and most of the book was written while he napped after his walk around the block. Now that the book is done, I hope to spend more time with my family—as a family—and absorb and give the love that family life is supposed to foster. Beyond that, I would enjoy more time fishing, ice fishing, and walking the woods of the Northland in search of game, especially with my grandchildren. There is nothing more important than children, and if I did things right with this book, hopefully they will have a better America in which to live as they grow into adults. Thank you again for taking your time to read this, and I wish you and your family good health, good fortune, and good times.
