Overview
Survivalists in 21st Century rural Montana
Pat and Roseanne Aultice are the third-generation owners of eight hundred acres in the foothills of Montana. As climate change brings fierce storms and wide-scale flooding to the Rocky Mountain states, Federal and state law enforcement and other government services are overwhelmed. Pat and Roseanne must confront serious water management issues, wildfires, and frequent outages of electric power. Pat has an innate sense of how things work and proceeds to find solutions to his problems that enhance the environment. All Pat's projects are going along fabulously until a large band of marauders invades south central Montana. Pat has foreseen these difficulties and has defensive strategies, the deployment of which bring ultimate challenges. Leadership is thrust upon Pat and Roseanne, for which they accept with reservations. A pacifist Christian congregation which has emigrated from the eastern U.S. help build a community on the Aultice homestead. Their role will be critical in the pitched battles of Pine Creek township.
