Description

Reflections of the Journey to Streets of Gold is a historical romantic novel that traces the pathway of three brothers immigrating to America from Italy in search of streets paved with gold. The story is one of inspiration, tragedy, and an emotional love story appealing to the romantic at heart. It serves as interest to the multitude of immigrants that have traveled many miles across the seas to begin life in America. The story brings hope when adversity strikes, and life doesn't turn out the way we plan. The story begins by capturing life in Italy in the early 1900s. It retraces the journey reflecting on the hardships endured coming to America landing at Ellis Island in search of a better life. Upon arrival in America, Francesco meets Lucia in New York where a beautiful love story unfolds bringing happiness that appears to last forever. Francesco lands a coal mining job. Now the Great Depression sweeps across the land, and a fire sparks that turns into a tragedy. The moments of magical love found on the streets of New York turns into setting Francesco's world upside down. The secret is thrown in the closet away for the eyes of the world not to see. To help matters, the decision was made to move to a farm in the country with the quiet and fresh gentle breezes. One day in the distance is an echo of music and laughter with the clacking of tin banging as the wheels of the wagons come slowly up the narrow lane. The leader of the caravan states that he has a magical crystal ball in his wagon that can help predict the future. Francesco and Lucia grasp onto hope. Little did they know about being overshadowed with deception. Beyond a love story, the story deals with loss and hope in life struggles with inspirational thoughts bringing satisfactory resolution to Francesco's pathway in his journey of life.
