Rainbow In My Tummy®, a nutrition-enrichment program created in 2008 by Verner Center for Early Learning in Asheville, North Carolina, provides early care and education care centers the vision, training, tools, coaching and resources needed to change the food culture surrounding the young children (age birth to kindergarten) in their care and sustain changes made. RIMT is based on widely accepted best practices in early childhood education and nutrition including recommendations from the Institute of Medicine, USDA, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Head Start, and the NC Division of Child Development and Early Education (NC-DCDEE). Our three-phased, multi-pronged approach addresses the food culture from four perspectives: the kitchen, the center, the classroom and the home.
