Like so many others, Tonya Peele’s family has been touched by weight issues, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and cancer. More than 15 years ago, Tonya made a commitment to take control of her life. She dropped four dress sizes by adding more nourishing plant-based foods to her diet, limiting her intake of meat, and making regular physical activity an integral part of her lifestyle. As she changed her life, her philosophy about food changed. As a nutrition instructor, wellness coach, blogger, speaker and mom, Tonya is committed to helping families understand the connection between food and health by adopting easy changes that lead to big results, or “Quick Wins,” which motivate both kids and adults to eat healthier and live healthier. In May 2009, Tonya was a guest on the Rachael Ray Show, alongside President Bill Clinton, to recognize her for her efforts to promote nutritious food and daily physical fitness in her son’s school. She lives in North Carolina with her husband and their son.
