About The Author

About the Author

Simonette Vaja believes that wellbeing is not something we achieve—it is something we cultivate throughout a lifetime.

For more than three decades, Simonette has walked alongside people from all walks of life, helping them navigate change, rediscover hope and create lives of greater meaning, resilience and fulfilment. As a registered psychologist, author, nature retreat facilitator and compassionate educator, she brings together the science of psychology with the restorative wisdom of mindfulness, creativity, compassion and the natural world.

Throughout her career, Simonette has worked across healthcare, government, education, emergency services, the legal profession and corporate Australia, supporting individuals, teams and leaders to thrive in the face of life's challenges. She has designed innovative wellbeing, resilience and psychosocial health programs, led workplace mental health initiatives and guided thousands of people towards healthier relationships with themselves, their work and one another.

While her professional experience has shaped her understanding of human behaviour, it is her lived experience that gives her work its warmth and authenticity. Like many people, Simonette has experienced seasons of uncertainty, loss, self-doubt and post traumatic growth. These experiences deepened her appreciation that healing rarely follows a straight path. Instead, growth unfolds in cycles, much like the seasons in nature, inviting us to return again and again with greater wisdom, compassion and understanding.

This philosophy became the foundation for The Artistry of Wellbeing Framework—a compassionate, nature-inspired approach that views wellbeing as a lifelong creative practice rather than a destination to achieve. At the heart of the framework is the understanding that our lives evolve in a spiral. We continually return to our bodies, our emotions, our relationships, our creativity, our purpose and our connection with the natural world. Each return offers new insight. Each season invites fresh possibilities.

Simonette is passionate about supporting those who care for others. Her work with leaders, health professionals, educators, lawyers and frontline workers has inspired the development of compassionate conversations, reflective practice and nature-based approaches that strengthen resilience while reducing burnout and compassion fatigue. She believes that compassion begins with presence, deepens through empathy and finds its fullest expression through wise action that supports healing and human flourishing.

As the founder of Artistry of Wellbeing, Simonette now shares her work through books, practitioner training, workshops, retreats and online programs that inspire people to slow down, reconnect with what matters most and embrace wellbeing as an evolving way of living. Her experiential approach invites readers and participants to move beyond simply understanding wellbeing—to practise it through everyday moments of awareness, kindness, creativity and connection.

Simonette lives on Australia's beautiful Mid North Coast, where the ocean, forests and gardens continually inspire her writing and teaching. Whether facilitating a retreat, speaking to organisations or writing beside the sea, she remains committed to creating spaces where people feel safe to reflect, heal, grow and flourish.

Her invitation is simple:

Welcome to your companion for the journey of a lifetime.
