Overview
"Obama’s First 100" is an independent look at the first 100 days of the Obama presidency. The book consists of 100 original drawings, one per day, followed by the facts for that day. Only events involving the President's day are included. By presenting this history in such an enjoyable and easy to read manner, dfrnt has stripped it's pages of opinion and left that part up to the reader.
Description
"Obama’s First 100" is a collection of drawings originally created as a way to exercise artistic creativity on a daily basis. For months, two artists watched closely as the presidential transition unfolded, looking at multiple sources to confirm facts and strip away any insignificant commentary and opinion. Upon completion they looked at their hundred illustrations and asked, “now what?” The result is this book, created to inform and entertain those who missed the events of some of the most significant days in recent history due to the distractions of life and the monotonous nature of other media sources. By publishing their images, the artists behind dfrnt hope they can help people of all ages catch up on past political news in order to better understand current and future political events.
About the author
Recently married, the two artist working as "dfrnt" began collaborating on art shortly after they first met. Originally from Miami Florida and Lennox California, they thrive on correcting the others’ mistakes and creating something together that’s more unique than what each could achieve on their own. Having attended and graduated art school, they strive to create informed work across various media that leaves the viewer room to explore both visually and critically.
