Mindfulness and Infinity of Thoughts

Tahv Mindedness: Living with the Maximally Infinite

By Peter George Gross

Overview

Georg Cantor, the father of modern set theory, proved that there exist infinite sets that are greater than other infinite sets.  The author demonstrates that the greatest (largest) infinite collection (a collection is not necessarily a mathematically proper set with mathematically uniquely definable elements) is the collection of all thoughts.  The presentation employs various techniques to facilitate thought exchange between individual minds, making this point.  The importance of such awareness of the maximally infinite, the Tahv, as the author calls it, is left to the reader for now within this short book; there is no dwelling on this in any detail in the book; this is on purpose, because the concept of the Tahv is not a familiar one as yet.  Once the idea takes hold, the subsequent steps can be developed.  The author hopes that the book, although not necessarily an easy read, is nonetheless clear and understandable, requiring no mathematical background from the reader.  Above all, the book is intended to be both enjoyable and enlightening.

Description

Although the topic of the book may appear remote from everyday life at first glance, the author attempts to make it a manageable discussion for the reader.  The reader is encouraged, and perhaps even expected, to make their own notations and comments as the topic unfolds in the book.  The book is very short, and this is also intentional.  The very concept that the Tahv raises is that nothing can ever be completed unless it is defined as a closed system.  Our individual minds are each composed of an infinite number of thoughts, and they certainly do not constitute a closed system.

Tahv Mindedness is a self-enlightening process that unfolds over time, following the completion of reading (and re-reading) this short book.  Tahv Mindedness is life-changing for the individual who undertakes the effort to approach even a semblance of understanding some of the meanings of the Tahv.

Two follow-up Tahv Minded books are currently in the writing process by this author.  This is neither easy nor difficult.  Writing Tahv Minded books is life-changing for both the author and the future readers of such books.  This is something to look forward to, perhaps.  If the author does not finish such future books, there is unquestionable confidence that one or more readers of the present book will do so -- it is that meaningful.

Mindfulness and Infinity of Thoughts: Tahv Mindedness by Peter George Gross MD Ph.D. is a motivational new-age guide in which the author elaborates on the theory that our ever-stirring formation of thought is not contained within the traditional confines of a closed system. The book is compact in size but massive in the scope of Gross's view of the maximally infinite known as 'the Tahv'. The construction of the book evolves through multiple parts that are intended to move in tandem through exploration exercises and a diverse collection of narrative formats. Examples through dialogue, anecdotal portrayals, and the citation of interconnecting references culminate in the profound supposition of infinity.

Mindfulness and Infinity of Thoughts is a rather complex piece of work that takes more than a single reading to absorb. I initially thought that a book of only a few dozen pages would be relatively straightforward, but in truth, I have read books that are twelve times the size that were significantly less complicated. If I could summarize my opinion in a nutshell, whether I agree with Peter George Gross or not (and to some degree I do), it's that the philosophical premise of the work is sound enough to merit serious consideration. As Gross himself writes in a narrative that takes the form of a scripted play, “Infinite, unending, this is difficult. This may even be uncomfortable...” The guide and its contents will appeal to those with an open mind and the patience to unpack its ideas.
