Overview
This piece addresses the mind's intricate and erratic thoughts that happen before we sleep. Written deep into the night, these poems discuss the themes of time, dreams, love, loss, and life. From contemplating the nature of our world to inspirational statements, you will find an intellectual and relaxing journey. This book will bring forth questions leaving you ruminating and reflecting on your own thoughts at night.
Description
This piece is called Midnight Lyrics, as it addresses conscious thought late in the night. It separates itself from others as it targets not only those who suffer from lack of sleep but those who also ponder at night. It relates to anyone who has eerie or interesting thoughts and makes the reader question. A specific target audience for Midnight Lyrics are young adults who have grown up in the modern social world. It is highly expressed through many of my peers about how much we are not sleeping and how that creates these anxious and deep thoughts before bed. This book expresses these thoughts and themes through poetry. Our modern society has manifested rules that make it hard to get sufficient sleep at night, and for many, this is extra difficult. My fellow insomniacs know the struggle of calming the mind to allow for sleep. In turn, this book offers a thread of conscious and subconscious thought, to try and alleviate the stress/anxiety that presents itself before bedtime. Whether it is to read poetry about dreams and death, or relate to the carousel of words that spin in your head as you lay there trying to sleep, this book is for them.
