Memoirs of an Afghan Village is a collection of Anzor’s Pashto short stories, translated into English by Arley Loewen and Homayun Hotak. Loewen is a specialist in Afghan-Persian cultural studies. This is Mr. Anzor’s first collection of stories in English translation. The first English translation of “Memoirs of an Afghan Village” was well-received. This second edition has been re-illustrated and the text has been edited again with the hope of a more faithful view through Mr. Zarin Anzor’s unique window into Pashtun culture.

About the author

M. Zarin Anzor is a well-known writer, Pashto scholar and journalist. Born in Nangrahar Province in 1956, he graduated from Kabul University with a major in journalism. He also studied literature at the University of Peshawar, Pakistan. Since 2010, Mr. Anzor has been the General Director of RTA-Radio and Television Afghanistan. Mr. Zarin Anzor has published several books in Pashto, including Empty Alleys, Dusk and Dark Clouds. His stories reflect the tragedies of Afghans and the customs of Pashtun tribes.
