About the author
Affectionately known as Mrs. Jay is the Curriculum Director at AMCI. She is known for her ability to reach all levels of medical coding learners by simplifying the most complicated guidelines. Mrs. Jay is From Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt), and later became a Pitt administrator in the student affairs department charged with student leadership development outside of the classroom. At Pitt (at the time, UPMC and Pitt were merged and the largest employer in Pittsburgh), Mrs. Jay set herself apart from the rest as she was chosen as one of the inaugural members of The Distinguished Staff Award Recipients at the University of Pittsburgh. One of four named as a high honor recipient and received the award every year thereafter while employed at the University, and has received a multitude of awards and accolades throughout her career. Mrs. Jay was inspired to write the MCG manual to help AMCI students properly learn the medical coding guidelines. AMCI students praise the MCG as a must-have, and some AMCI-certified alumni return each year to purchase the updated versions of the manual.
