Overview
After two duck families decided to nest in her garden, Lindy was horrified to find that when one of the mother ducks left the nest with her babies, she had left behind an egg that was still hatching. At first Lindy thought the egg, which had a hole in it covered with flies, was rotten, and picked it up to throw it away. But just then the duckling inside the egg stuck his beak out through the hole and cheeped at her. Lindy's plan was to rescue the abandoned duckling and then put it back with its mom. But that didn't work out as she had hoped: the duckling had imprinted on her and thought she was its mother! This is the story of how the mother ducks - abandoned by their mates - joined forces to create a blended family and raise their babies together, and Lindy's sometimes hilarious attempts to get the abandoned duckling to join its family. Did she succeed? Read the book to find out!
