Sueko Oshimoto was born in Kitanakagusuku Village, Okinawa. She graduated from Ryubi International Beauty College, and after earning her dressing qualification with Yamano-ryu, she taught Kitsuke to more than 1000 people. She moved to the United States at the age of 38. She opened the Yamano style dressing chapter in Los Angeles and Las Vegas in 2007, and as of this writing has trained over 80 Japan-qualified instructors in the United States. She contributes to the spread of kimono culture overseas through kimono fashion shows and museum and university presentations around the world. She has more than 30 years of experience as a dresser and is in charge of dressing VIPs who attend awards ceremonies such as the Academy Awards every year. She is also active as a costume designer and kimono specialist in Hollywood movies, music videos, commercials and operas, including West World (HBO), SHOGUN (Disney), and Madama Butterfly (P.O.P).
