About The Author


Tamya Valentine is a proud graduate of the esteemed Delaware State University and Morgan State University. Hailing from Seat Pleasant, Maryland, she has always had an unwavering passion for English and Literature. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Delaware State University and her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Morgan State University.

She began her teaching career in the Baltimore City Public School District, where she has taught grades 4-6, specializing in English. As both an educator and an author, her mission is to empower African American children by introducing them to the rich history that is often overlooked until adulthood. Journey’s Grand Adventure provided her with the opportunity to share these important narratives, highlighting not only the struggles but also the triumphs of African American history. Writing this book allowed her to reflect deeply on her own journey as an African American woman and the legacy of those who paved the way before her. She hopes readers will embark on this historical journey with open hearts and take time to reflect on their own paths.
