Overview

Throughout history, survivors of plagues have written about their experiences for future generations.  This book adds to this tradition so that when the next epidemic comes maybe we'll be a little more ready for it.  And, there will be another one eventually.

Description
These personal ground level observations and posts about life in New York City during the Covid pandemic are unlike what was commonly reported in the national mass media. This looks at the people in the streets, subways, bars, restaurants, stores and museums. It is an attempt to see and remember the fine details that previous accounts missed. Ranging from April 2020 to April 2022 it is not just about the horrors of the plague itself, but also of the resistance, resilience and the start of recovery. It is as much about hope for the future as despair about the past.
About the author

Pruchnicki MD is a fellowship trained geriatrician with a primary care practice in an assisted living facility in the heart of New York City. He started his career with basic science research into Alzheimer's disease but eventually switched to clinical practice. He has thirty years experience in geriatric medicine, and nineteen years at his present location. As a life-long New Yorker, he has had the opportunity to observe the people of the city before, during, and possibly at the end of the Covid pandemic.
