About the author
Janice “Tisha” Samuels is a writer and educator who has combined her love and knowledge of both Jamaica and the United States into a travel guide and audio CD designed for English speaking people who would like to become familiar with Jamaica and its language. Janice Tisha’s collaborative work with her students at Saint Augustine’s College on the research project The Struggle Between Culture and Literacy for African Americans in Academia established a passion for further linguistic and cultural research pertaining to people of color and sparked the inspiration for her non-fiction project, Jamaican Patwa No Problem . She is currently finishing up work on her stage play Fly, Yellow Bird and beginning the writing process for a feature film set in Jamaica and a follow-up to her first collection of poetry, Soul Fire.
