"I have the body of a boy, but I am a girl in my heart and in my mind." This is a compelling novel about a transgender girl who must navigate the emotional burden of growing up in the wrong body. From being teased by a bully in her class to making friends at her new middle school, this book follows Christine through her experiences after coming out. Each episode is full of fun, laughter, mystery, and excitement. You will find yourself becoming friends with Christine as the book progresses. Her kind, loving, confident, and moral personality will make you fall in love with her. Containing traditional coming of age themes and the intricacies of growth, this is a breathtaking story of self-discovery. It is a story about learning who you are, and committing to yourself no matter what. Christine realizes that she is transgender early in elementary school. She finds the courage to finally come out to her family, teachers, and friends. However, her coming out journey is not so smooth. It is filled with many ups and lows. She is sometimes happy, sometimes sad. Sometimes she feels good about herself, and sometimes she is made to be like an outsider. However, during all this, Christine never loses her positivity and always seems to navigate through a tough time. This 12-part series will aid conversations about young transgender children. With a transgender girl as the protagonist, this book teaches its readers the values of empathy, compassion, kindness, and belonging.
