About the author
“THE UNIVERSAL SPIRIT OF ALOHA” Welcome, my name is Scott Katsura. I’m very fortunate to be from the State of Hawai’i. I was born and raised on the heavenly island of Oahu––growing up there, I was always surrounded by such beautiful and kind people. Everything that we shared together was exchanged with great warmth, friendliness, generosity and sincerity. From sunrise to sunset, we’d share that same, heartfelt feeling––we call it the ‘Spirit of Aloha’… it’s always been our way of living. Where I come from, the sun is always shining all year round… so, no one ever judged you for the color of your skin––we were all beautifully suntanned. We never judged anyone for the clothes or the shoes they wore––for everyone was always wearing comfortable attire in the warm weather––not to mention the standard outdoor slippers. We grew delicious fruits, flowers and vegetables no matter what day it was––for it was always one season of tropical paradise. Just as the land did for us, people with the ‘Spirit of Aloha’ always did for each other. They gave everything possible to one another and even strangers, as well––even if it meant sacrificing food, from their own table. Living in Hawai’i taught me everything about humanity, respect for Mother Nature and appreciation for all life––on land, in the ocean and in the sky. Since Hawai’i is known for being located in the most isolated spot on earth, growing up in that kind of seclusion was like living in a country in and of itself. We understood a language that had no words––we spoke directly from the heart. The day came when I was grown and moved far away from my island home. I packed up all of my musical hopes and childhood singing dreams and took them to the other side of the planet––to New York City. Over there, my life would never be the same. I worked with the finest producers, engineers, musicians and singers in the music industry… I recorded many albums, performed concerts and traveled the world… I won some awards and dined with very important people… I even lived with a famous singer! But, through it all, there was always something missing on this amazing journey. Even with a grateful heart, it seemed that nothing could fill the empty space that was my longing for my home in Hawai’i. Nothing could compare to the life I once knew––not the fame… not the fortune… not any of the important people that I could associate with. The only thing that really mattered was being with individuals who shared the ‘Spirit of Aloha’ with me. In time, I realized how the ‘Spirit of Aloha’ was a universal language. I began to share that special feeling with certain individuals––from all types of cultures, with all types of backgrounds and in many faraway places. No matter where they came from… these special individuals had one thing in common––they were warm, friendly, generous and sincere. They never judged the color of my skin… or the clothes that I wore… they gave me everything possible––even when it took food off their own plates… they exhibited great humanity, respect for Mother Nature and appreciation for all life––on land, in the ocean and in the sky. Ever since my childhood, I’ve been able to hear the ‘Spirit of Aloha’ talking to me––the voice would come from deep in my heart. Whenever I listened, carefully, I would gain such incredible amounts of wisdom. Because of it, I am consciously aware! I know who I am… I know where I come from… I know the greatest gifts that I have to offer this world! The ‘Spirit of Aloha’ comes from deep inside a person and not from a particular place. The ‘Spirit of Aloha’ means everything to me. With Heartfelt Love & Aloha, Scott
