This was a total passion project, one I'm super excited about. After having a girl two years ago and reading her bedtime stories, I realized that there aren't many children's books that show life in a real and honest way.
I know they're kids and they may not be ready to learn about "real life" but I think we shed them from more than we should because of our own fears. And this only handicaps them later.
So I wrote my own version of a children's book, one about the importance of expressing your feelings.
"I Used To Be A Miserable Duck" is a story about a duck who feels out of place and suppresses her feelings. She befriends a raccoon and together they learn to express themselves. Miserable duck is about self expression, self acceptance, and the importance of friendship.
It's a beautiful book, full color, and lengthy too. It was important to me to tell a full story. didn't want this to be a flimsy pamphlet. I wanted it to something you can put on the coffee table.
