About the author
Jennifer Barbour Butler, Esq., is an accomplished attorney and educator with a distinguished career spanning various sectors. She holds a Juris Doctor from George Washington University Law School, where she served as president of the Black Law Students Association. She also graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the same university and earned two Harvard University examination-based Verified certificates in Justice and in Public Policy. Appointed by President Bill Clinton, Jennifer served in the White House Counsel's Office. Her legal career includes defending the utility and cell phone industries in a boutique law firm, working as an assistant general counsel for local government, and serving under contract for private law firms and in various federal service roles, including two divisions at The Library of Congress and a stint in The Department of Justice. Jennifer founded a non-profit organization in 2014 to inform students like herself, in honor of her parents. A sought-after lecturer, she has delivered talks on succeeding in college to hundreds of high school students in multiple states, earning widespread acclaim. Jennifer is an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying foil fencing, tennis, and bicycling and walking, as well as organic gardening, documentaries, bird watching/feeding, and yard beautification. Residing in the D.C. metropolitan area with her family, Jennifer is married to a U.S. military war veteran, and together they share their home and love with their cherished miniature poodle.
