About The Author

Mark Atkinson lives in Durham, North Carolina, with his wife, Helen, and their dog, Beau. He graduated from Duke University with a degree in electrical engineering. After four years in the Navy, Mark settled into a 25-year career at Kimley-Horn and Associate, Inc., (KHA) a national consulting engineering firm. While at KHA, Mark discovered that he liked business management more than engineering, solving problems, and working with people. Not long after leaving KHA, Mark went to law school at North Carolina Central University School of Law. As a (young) attorney, Mark has a solo practice serving small businesses and nonprofits. He also started the Incubator for Legal Practice and Innovation (www.innovationlegal.org). The incubator helps entrepreneurial attorneys start financially sustainable practices that improve access to justice.
