Overview

Genevieve Johnson grew up without a father...not one she knew about, anyway. He was always in the background of her life, completely unknown due to a promise made to her mother...a promise he always regretted making but kept none-the-less. Elementary school, Junior High, High School, and College always presented their own circumstances to overcome. But her marriage to Jim Harris and raising their son was the greatest challenge yet. Her father Arlo was just in the background, out of reach. Though she lived in denial of the living God, her life and travails edged her closer and closer to believing. As the complete businesswoman, Gen's life took economic turns for the better, with her earthly father and Heavenly Father backing her all the way to salvation.

Description

Growing up without a father is difficult by any standard. But when your father is in the shadows, trying to support you and smooth the way without you knowing who he is, a true resentment for his absence develops. Genevieve's love for business developed while in elementary school and was fostered by her father from behind the scenes. Throughout junior high, high school, and college, she learns her business sense and has a chance to practice it with an experimental opportunity from the Greeley Chamber of Commerce. Finding and marrying her soulmate complicated her life somewhat but did not deter her from completing the experiment she entered into. Having a son and aborting another behind her husband's back only served to deepen her disbelief in God. She firmly viewed God as a superstitious myth totally unneeded in her life even though her beloved, and behind-the-scenes father, were active Christians. It wasn't until she lost her husband and ended up in the hospital herself that she finally opened her eyes to find both fathers...the earthly as well as the Heavenly.
