Overview

Enemy Glory is the first book in Karen Michalson's Enemy Glory trilogy.

"Then live and be damned." Llewelyn is a brilliant young evil magician who is dying in extreme agony at the foot of his arch-enemy, the good and lawful King Walworth of Threle. Enemy Glory is Llewelyn's astonishing deathbed confession, his alarmingly passionate and strangely lyrical account of his heartbreaking decision to embrace evil, told with wry humor and trenchant irony against an epic backdrop of magic, the gods, betrayed friendship, unrequited love, war, and the rise and fall of empires.

Let's play a game of choice and consequences. What if you had to destroy everything you ever loved or suffer eternal damnation?

Enter the dark.

Editorial Reviews

"If you love sinking your teeth into the artistic potential of the English language then you'll be in your glory reading Enemy Glory. Michalson doesn't waste a single word; each was carefully chosen for significance and impact either on the level of imagery or intellectual depth. This is a story about a young man who loves words and their magic. It's also a story about how academia destroys the creative imaginations of its students as "it" takes control of their minds, emotions, and lives. The character development from the psychological angle is thoughtful and substantive. The thematic irony reeks of real life experiences. And Llewelyn's passive aggressive rebellion is a thing of eccentric delight. Enemy Glory may be dark but it certainly isn't bleak. If you're in the mood for MORE than action adventure entertainment take a chance on Michalson's work. If not, well, we all know where to find the junk food." - Eva Wojcik, Amazon Reviews

"Epic, mythic, and yet grounded in real emotion, Enemy Glory is the best kind of fantasy, a sprawling, multi-layered saga of war, gods, intrigue, and magic. Karen Michalson creates worlds within worlds and manages to light them all with loving detail. This is a writer ready to explode on the fantasy scene. Disconnect the phone, cancel your appointments, and stock the fridge for the long haul: Enemy Glory will make you want to wallow in the pure joy of reading, all over again." — Jack O'Connell, author of The Skin Palace and Word Made Flesh

About the author

Karen Michalson is the author of three literary fantasy novels: Enemy Glory, Hecate's Glory, and The King's Glory, which together form the Enemy Glory trilogy. She once described the trilogy, which is narrated by an anti-hero magician who chooses evil as a response to an unspeakable betrayal, as "literary fiction tripping the dark fantastic." Her fourth novel, The Maenad's God, blends psychological thriller, magical realism, romantic suspense, and rock band fiction. It takes place in 1990s Massachusetts and Toronto.
