About The Author

Robert McCullough, Sr. (b. 1941) is a community leader, educator, former basketball player, great-grandfather, and New York City icon. A graduate of Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina, he helped lead the Benedict Tigers basketball team to a national scoring title and became the second-leading scorer in the country his senior year, averaging 36.4 points per game. A Harlem native, he is the co-founder of the legendary Rucker Pro League, the historic summer tournament which featured streetball legends, Harlem Globetrotters, and future NBA Hall of Famers. McCullough helped establish Rucker Park as a global symbol for playground basketball during the 1960s and 1970s, considered by many the golden age of basketball innovation, which transformed the look and feel of the modern game. In 1967, McCullough co-founded the National Association of Each One, Teach One, a community organization offering youth education and enrichment programming alongside basketball clinics and tournaments.
