About the author
Michael Beadle is a poet, author and writer-in-residence living in Raleigh, NC. Since 1999, he's taught thousands of students in poetry and creative writing workshops and performed poetry at schools, churches and festivals. He is the author of 11 books, including the poetry collections What Makes a Giraffe Laugh? (BookBaby, 2022) and Beasts of Eden (Press 53, 2018). His poems and stories have been featured in literary journals and anthologies including Kakalak, River Heron Review, the Southern Poetry Anthology, and Apple Valley Review. Beadle has served as a guest editor for Prime Number Magazine, poet-in-residence at the NC Zoo, A+ Fellow for the NC A+ Schools program, instructor at Duke Young Writers Camp (Duke University), emcee for the NC Poetry Out Loud state championships, and student contest manager for the NC Poetry Society.
