Overview

"Defining Moments" is my testimony as to the goodness and grace of God throughout my life. There are numerous stories about the importance of forgiveness. I was born to an unwed mother in 1936 and was the object of verbal and emotional abuse for years. I carried those scars with me until God healed me and made me whole. This book is about growing in faith and living a victorious life as God intended for all of His children. It's also about family. I'm the "hinge" that connects my ancestors from 1886 to their descendants of 2021. I relate vivid details of my visits to my great grandparent's farm as a child. There are chapters devoted to the three generations of strong and courageous women who preceded me and helped me become the woman I am today.

Description

As I've reflected over my 84 years I realize that certain events and people influenced some of the decisions I made later in life. Thus, the title "Defining Moments" was born. Even though I didn't realize it at the time, I was forming decisions and opinions based on those seemingly insignificant events and people. This book includes my family history, my personal history, and my spiritual history.                    My family history is based on what I saw and heard. I’ve read that when the oldest member of a family dies, a library burns to the ground! At least some of my stories will remain alive and can be passed on.                                      My personal history includes some of the incredible people I've met along the way including my first love as well as the man I was married to for 57 years. My faith history is my journey into the heart of God as I came to know the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit on a personal level.                             Read about a defiant young woman, suicide, disgrace, shame, verbal and emotional abuse, anger, forgiveness, immigrants who made their dream come true, a summer in Scotland, a miracle, and much more. About The Author

Pat was born to an unwed mother in 1936 which was not socially acceptable at the time. Being illegitimate in a "legitimate" world had its own unique challenges. Because of faith, hope, and love she has victory in her life. The Word of God has taken her from pain to promise. With transparency and honesty sprinkled with humor, she relates her faith experiences with the Father, Son and, Holy Spirit.. She was married to Frank C. Miller for 57 years until his death in 2014. Pat has three daughters, seven grandchildren and, four great grandchildren. She was a nurse for 36 years and changed careers at age 58 when she went back to school to become Pastoral Associate at St. Ann's parish in Hamilton, Ohio. She is co-founder of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Butler County, Ohio and a 16 year cancer survivor. She has been retired since 2005 and says, "You're never too old to have a dream or to have a "first" in your life! Her life story is unique and inspiring.
