What does the Bible really teach? What is its main message? Is there any key to helping us understand it? There is one central message in the Bible, and that message is the key that unlocks every passage to our understanding. Without this key the Bible is a locked book, confusing at best, entirely unable to be understood, and open to all kinds of misinterpretations. This one message should be the subject of all your study of the Bible, it should be the main subject of every sermon preached, and should be the central subject of small group discussion. What is this one message, this key that unlocks the entire Bible? It is the Gospel. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 This is a book about the Gospel because there is no subject greater that we could speak on. It is our hope that in this book we will be able unwrap texts in both the Old and New Testament that reveal the beauty of the Gospel, the power of the Gospel, and the hope of the Gospel for all mankind. Young or old; religious or agnostic this book is intended to encourage, inspire, and instill a heart of worship within the reader.

“Where your heart is, there will your Treasure be also” Luke 12:34 Did you know that you are a treasure hunter? Regardless of who we are or where we live in the world there are some things that are universally true about all of us, and one of those realities is that everybody seeks treasure. It doesn’t matter if it is physical or spiritual; simple or complex; beneficial or harmful, the reality stands that we have been created to be treasure hunters who will search high and low for that which meets our needs and satisfies the deepest hunger in our souls. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich. “2 Corinthians 8:9” It is our strong belief that the greatest Treasure that man can find is not found in anything on earth, but in the message of the Gospel. There are blessings found within the Good News that far surpass any fleeting enjoyment that can come from any level of fame, fortune, power or pleasure that one could achieve on earth, and the Treasure of seeing and knowing Christ will reveal that you are wealthy beyond your wildest dreams. This month long collection of writings will not tell you how to “..get rich in Jesus” by doing any of a number of spiritual exercises or duties but instead is intended to show you that you already are wealthy beyond your wildest dreams. May you be encouraged and filled with hope, joy and peace as you gaze upon the One who “...though He was rich, yet for your sake became poor so that you, by His poverty, might become rich”.

Shon Bruellman is from Des Moines, IA where he lives with his wife of 25 years, Julie. They have three sons. Labeled as an "addict" with psychiatric problems Shon spent many years in and out of secular therapists offices, and was on one form or another of psychotropic medication for nearly half his life. Since finding freedom through the power of the Gospel he has mentored thousands of students over the past 10+ years with Setting Captives Free and has served on the Board Of Directors. He has also served as Executive Director, along with representing the ministry internationally as a conference speaker.

Mike and Jody Cleveland, along with their four children, live in Washington State. Mike is an airline pilot and Jody a homemaker, and together they are co-founders of the ministry called Setting Captives Free.
