Overview

There is a universal God consciousness, a Creative Force that brought forth the reality of a cosmic realm and the physical universe it contains. To fulfill his desire for loving companionship God created souls, portions of himself, made in his image. Rebellious souls lost awareness of their Creator and purpose when they used free will in selfish ways that violated spiritual law. To correct this propensity for spiritual error, God created a causal physical realm of spirit-energy where souls can purge selfish traits and restore their God consciousness through material opportunity during incarnation, the animation of human bodies. The conscious mind is the portion of the soul mind that interacts with the physical realm and fellow incarnated souls through the human body. Interpersonal relationships are critical to the spiritual growth of the soul. The decisions that a soul makes during life on earth in relation to its inherent spiritual attributes and the spiritual law to which the soul is accountable determines the ultimate fate of the soul. Spiritual advancement is gained through the expenditure of time, energy, and resources in ways that support, encourage, and help other persons who are part of our personal and social lives. This book explores and discusses important questions about reality and consciousness, mind and spirit, the nature of the soul, and the spiritual purpose of the physical universe. It chronicles the descent of souls into the earth plane and the ways they misused their creative ability and became ensnared in the material world. It looks at the spiritual progress of the soul as it relates to the activation of desires by the will and directed and purposeful human activity. It follows the journey of the wayward soul from its creation and spiritual fall in the cosmic realm, through its challenges during incarnation in human form, to its ultimate destiny and spiritual maturity in Christ Consciousness.

About The Author

Jeffrey Imes is a retired PhD physicist. His career included working with a private geophysics firm to locate oil reservoirs in Libya and Tunisia, for the US Geological Survey (USGS) to search for offshore oil reservoirs in the Gulf of Mexico, and with the USGS to develop computer simulations of groundwater flow through the aquifers of southern Missouri. He also studied the aquifers of Abu Dhabi Emirate, worked with the US Navy and USAID to identify promising locations for village water wells in Kenya and Djibouti, and worked with the World Health Organization to study aquifer production and arsenic contamination in Bangladesh. His interests range from cosmology to archaeology to spirituality. He has studied the Edgar Cayce readings for about forty-five years and appreciates the natural way in which the philosophy of the readings integrate science, Christianity, and certain aspects of Eastern religious thought in a coherent nondogmatic manner. He has published two other books that explore Christianity and the nature of the soul from the perspective of the Edgar Cayce Readings: The Spiritual Purpose of the Physical Universe (2022) and The Essenes and the Advent of Jesus (2021).
