Description

BOOK 1 THE DREADFUL DAWN

“Don’t go to the rescue centers.”

An emerging Totalitarian Government unleashes a population reducing horror upon the Earth.

Would you bug in or bug out when faced with the probability both choices would end in death, imprisonment, or worse?

As neighborhoods and hospitals become war zones and panicked citizens create gridlock in search of anywhere safe, the Danburys decide to bug in with their teenage daughter Natalie until the chaos dies down enough for them to escape to a rumored sanctuary in the mountains. They enlist the carpentry skills of Coltan, a brutally abused young man they befriended, to secure their home and create a hiding place within it.

Meanwhile in the impoverished south end of town, young Mario Rodriquez fights through the hordes of infected to rescue his mother and his younger sister Rosa.

BOOK 2 FLIGHT OF THE DESTINED

The rumor of a refuge in the Northern California lava tubes proves to be fact, but getting there is impossible. The infected roam every city, town and countryside. The new government’s military is transporting all survivors to holding centers where life is tenuous.

In the Danbury home, Natalie and Coltan hear the only real news of the escalating carnage over a police scanner as their town and the surrounding burgs quickly fall to ruins.

There is no escape either, for Mario and Rosa when a scientist and her small army in the tiny enclave of Baker Creek capture them for experiments.

However, one teenage boy who escaped Baker Creek stumbles upon the refuge. He has a grisly tale to tell them, and a future awaiting him that he could never imagine.

All discover there are greater forces—supernatural forces—working through them; one trying to protect them while the other is determined to destroy them.

About the author
Colleen A. Parkinson is a playwright and novelist living in Redding, California. She began writing her latest work, "Claiming Destination," in 2006. "Claiming Destination is a riveting seven-book series set in an apocalyptic world run by a Totalitarian government. Although Colleen abhors cruelty and violence, she found it necessary to include these inherent sins of mankind in this work. When she isn't writing about SHTF scenarios, Colleen puts her writing talents to good use in her subdivision newsletter and her blog. A kindhearted soul, she loves all animals, even the freeloading stray cats who frequent her deck. She also loves her readers, friends and family that have encouraged her through her lean and despondent days. Colleen believes in paying it forward through anonymous acts of kindness. Her goals for the future: to drink less coffee, give up smoking, not cuss so much, and have enough income to keep her secure through her old age (oh, wait... she's already an old bat).
