Overview

Featuring 50 individual FUTURISTIC FLASH FICTION short stories, Chaos Weaving is an experiment in telling detailed Wicked Technological Tales of the Beyond. An intriguing mix of space exploration, aliens, robots, military technology and more lies within. Flash fiction stories are quick tales between 100 and 1000 words. This premiere first collection is highly sci-fi themed and full of plausible scientific reasoning, spiritual questioning, existential intelligence awareness and many other evolutionary conflict situations. It contains stories about someone, or something, living in the future doing a task or having an experience in what could be a possible scenario from an actual potential future. These are forward-clawing visions of where we can go, and where sentience may end up – on the path toward the unending inevitable evolution of all things.

Description

CHAOS WEAVING is Collection One of The Freeborn Chaos Chronicles. These first fifty futuristic flash fiction fables tell complex original stories and weave interesting concepts about our Universe through the experiences of people performing jobs, saving the planet, exploring gravity wells in deep space, peering through lenses to the future, and jumping time portals into the past. Most of these stories began with an epic title that tells a big part of the tale itself and is designed to draw you in and keep your attention span held for only a few pages as a scenario unfolds that will hopefully make you think fast in alternate ways about existence. Since the idea behind Flash Fiction is brevity, these stories use tactile wording and screenplay-like use of quickly describing a scene vividly to convey the setting. Following are some of the great story titles that all envelop a similar futuristic state, but are self-contained individual stories within themselves. Story Title Examples: "Where Robots Go to Die" "Invasion Eve" "I am not a clone." "Space Garbage Man" "Remember Washing Machines?" "Hulls" "Admirable Admiral Adams" "Blacknum" "Bright Lights, Neon Nights" "The Quest for Anti-Fire" "Bogs of Mars" "This Bleeding Heart Bleeds Oil" "The Man Who Flipped the Switch that No One Heard that Saved the World!" "State of the Universe Address" "A Pirate in a Lawnchair on the Moon" In closing, the future is forged at the pace of the present, and the twists and turns that form tomorrow are perpetually altering course by the second. The winding road of chaos weaves our history on a loom holding the fabric of reality up as an image of the collective experience. So, that is happening.

About the author

Mason Freeborn is an Eccentricity Theorist and Aspiring Screenwriter. He was born in the Detroit area in the seventies, and moved to Southern California in the early nineties. Getting a BA Visual Arts Multi-Media degree and minoring in Economics, from UCSD, Mr. Freeborn has been collecting stories and ideas for various projects for all these years since learning the studied crafts. He is currently using a DARPA SIGMA-9 Grant to research Audio Manipulation Capability with Mechanical Resonating Time Mirroring Devices (AMCAMRATIMDEV). The Human Test: All the thoughts you have are worthy of a second thought. If it passes that test, write it down. Collect your scribbles into a notebook, then translate that book like you are an archaeological archival transcriber – think it out, make it sound logical, and your fabric of reality may just hold up as something tangible. The written word can be dangerous though, so play it smart with your intent. [No intentional offense to anyone who may be offended herein.] The stories contained in this first volume were all written over a 22-month period in 2012-14, by compiling audio recordings from walks and handwritten notes. When I get an idea, I write it down immediately and/or record it, eventually filing it into the proper themed book of ideas (the major categories for my brains filters). All of these story ideas, names, and concepts, came from this analog state, where I worked them with pens, tape, glue, markers and scissors, to the digital nature of typing chaotic idea ramblings logically into my Mac. To my family - to my friends from Michigan, to Orange County, to San Diego, LA, and to places parallel and tangential - to my new friends in Bandon, Oregon, where I wrote half of this at my old friend Danny Boyle’s cranberry farm (thanks to Peg & Chuck “Boss Bog” O’Donnell for the serenity and the time to work it out) – I appreciate you all! Additional praise to the Jureidini Clan, props for the patience. Space blips to Space Lounge brothers Mike Green & Blue J. Before you get lost in your own mind, consider this… What is reality when you can only hear a limited swath of soundwaves and see only a part of the spectrum of light available in the REAL world… as in everything actually present? What is real when you can’t escape from your dreams? Meaty brains are logic machines just like Skynet & HAL. These are the Realms where Possibility, Plausibility, and Potential converge to take the available options of chaos and Weave them into a Fabric of Historical Record, as the Present passes away into the Past, making an image. The immediate future is foreseeable as the strings of each Being intertwine, creating a path with a tail and a head - in the middle - the Streamline of the NOW is experienced – NOW. You are in it as you read this – this is your perspective of your current position in the STREAMLINE… SITTING THERE NOW… watching the Loom of Life weaving the Chaos of Possibility into a beautiful pattern of History - Tying your life into this book forever. I’ll try to make this pleasant…
