Bridges of All Kinds, a children's picture book, presents an engaging collection of color photographs of bridges from across the world to display the fantastic variety of types, shapes, colors, uses, materials, and life cycle of these elemental structures that connect the people, cultures, countries, and societies conveying the vehicle and foot traffic of the world.

Bridges of All Kinds, a 37 page children's picture book, presents an engaging collection of over 50 color photographs of bridges from across the world to display the great variety of types, shapes, colors, materials, uses, and life cycle of bridges. These elemental structures connect people, cultures, countries, and societies by conveying the vehicle and pedestrian traffic of the world. Each bridge is described by its prominent attribute such as big, yellow, or railroad and the bridge location (city, state if applicable, and country) is provided. This is one of the first books about bridges designed specifically for children. Photographic notes at the end of the book provide additional bridge information for further identification and discussion. All the images in this book except the author's are public domain photographs.

About the Author: Patrick McBriarty, a successful business person and SAP consultant discovered a new focus and fascination for Chicago’s bridges over a decade ago, soon after the loss of his wife. Eight years in the works researching and writing his first book, Chicago River Bridges, will soon be published by the University of Illinois Press (October 2013). In 2011-12 with filmmaker Stephen Hatch, they co-created and produced the documentary, Chicago Drawbridges, chronicling the history of Chicago’s bridges, from the first built by a tavern owner in 1832 to the iconic structures over the Chicago River today. Since Patrick has been developing a series of children’s picture books to bring his excitement and appreciation for bridges to a smaller fan base. Bridges of All Kinds is the first in this series sharing the beauty, variety, and wonder of bridges from around the world. He hopes this book will be enjoyed by kids of all ages.
