Overview
This dark family drama follows a set of middle-class, well off, socially desirable individuals facing unexpected violence and destruction. "Box of Evidence" uses unreliable narrators and frame narratives to examine the state of human nature.
Description
One bizarre encounter unravels a family. As their drama spirals out of control, they end up in dark places that have always been reserved for "other people." As the story of suppression, neglect, love, taboo, hate, mystery, and revenge begins to unpack itself, the reasons for the suffering seem to be nowhere in sight. These nameless individuals are intertwined in the middle-class, socially desirable context of comfort, manners, and education – a life in which nothing seems to be able to go askew. Everything is so smooth and calm, there doesn't seem to be anything lurking underneath. They thought they had weeded the demons out, so they could enjoy the heavenly fruit of proper conduct, material stability, honesty of emotions. From afar, their conduct in the world looks a lot better than anyone else's. With each step closer to the picture, however, the smooth surface begins to turn rough, and the bright colors begin to reveal the corrosive hue of worn-out secrets.
