This book is a collection of all the stories and poems Anita wrote about the places, people and times she loved. This book started years ago when Anita, along with her husband Jim, moved to a small 30-acre primitive plot in Parke County, Indiana. To gain entrance to this property they had to pass through the only structure on the farm, a black gate. And so it was then that the "beyond this black gate" journey began. Anita invites you inside these pages to discover or remember life in Wolf Bayou, Arkansas, the hallways of General Motors or life in Parke County, Indiana.

Anita was born in Heber Springs, Arkansas. She spent the first few years living in and around the Wolf Bayou, Arkansas community. This is a place she loved to call home. Anita treasured connecting with her family and friends and it was these precious moments that inspired her love of writing and storytelling. Necessity took Anita and her family to Little Rock, back to Wolf Bayou and then north to Indiana. Anita wrote of her experiences in all of these beloved places. Anita is a published author of two additional books, Wolf Bayou Kinfolks and A Boat Called Hope. She was also the award winner of multiple poetry contests. This, her third and final book is a complete collection of stories and poems of the places and people she loved to remember most - Beyond the Black Gate. Shortly after Jim and Anita married they moved to a small 30-acre primitive plot in Parke County, Indiana known then as the Covered Bridge Capital of America. To gain entrance to this property they had to pass through the only structure on the farm, a black gate. It was "beyond this black gate" that Jim and Anita started their journey together in life. This journey was like the experiences of many other folks. Filled with hopes, dreams, and an abounding love, of accomplishment through hard work and the challenges that life gives each of us to deal with. Their life beyond the gate became a happy, and fruitful life with many happy memories. It also gave Anita the inspiration to write a manuscript of Beyond the Black Gate. About The Author (Cont.) She never lost sight and continued to build upon this endeavor. Anita liked to express life in poetry, and short stories, so this is what this book has become. Through these words, our life, dreams, and inspiration are revealed. In 2008 Jim and Anita retired to Cleburne County, Arkansas on the family farm. Anita's roots Beyond the Black Gate went with them.
