About the author
Judith Briles is the founder and co-founder of several companies and organizations including Mile High Press, Ltd., a small press that has published 13 titles, The Book Shepherd, a company that works with authors to create, strategize, develop and publish their books; and Author U, a membership association dedicated to the serious author who wants to create quality books and achieve financial success.
She has been teaching workshops on publishing since 1984, and working with authors who are in the beginning stages of their books to implement an over-all plan to achieve book success. Judith Briles is known as The Book Shepherd. She knows publishing through the wearing of multiple hats: award-winning publisher (multiple first place awards for business, how to and publishing technology printing, lay-out and cover design), author (Chicago Tribune’s Business Book of the Year, Colorado Book of the Year) and book advisor. The books of her clients routinely win awards in multiple publishing and author contests.
Judith is an award-winning author of 30 books, to date, including: Show Me About Book Publishing (co-written with John Kremer and Rick Frishman), Stabotage!™ How to Deal with Pit Bulls, Skunks, Snakes, Scorpions & Slugs in the Health Care Workplace, Zapping Conflict in the Health Care Workplace, The Confidence Factor: Cosmic Gooses Lay Golden Eggs, Stop Stabbing Yourself in the Back, Woman to Woman: From Sabotage to Support, Woman to Woman 2000: Becoming Sabotage Savvy in the New Millennium, Money Smarts for Turbulent Times, Smart Money Moves for Kids and 10 Smart Money Moves for Women. Author YOU: Creating and Building Your Author and Book Platforms is her 30th book. Her first book, The Woman’s Guide to Financial Savvy was published in 1981 by St. Martin’s Press. To date, her books have been translated in 16 foreign countries.
Her work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, Time, People, USA Today, Self, The New York Times and People magazine. She has been a frequent guest on national television and radio and has appeared on over 1,000 programs, including CNN, Oprah and Good Morning America. Judith writes regularly for a variety of publications.
Judith is a past president of The Colorado Author’s League, and is a past director of the National Speaker’s Association; Gilda’s Club-Denver; The WISH List; the Women’s Bank and the Colorado Women's Leadership Coalition and serves on several private corporation boards. Currently, she is Chief Visionary Officer of Author U and CEO of The Book Shepherd.
Colorado Biz magazine has named one of her companies as a Top 100 in Colorado. She is honored to be named the Woman of Distinction by the Girl Scouts of America.
