An Artist's ABCs

A whimsical cartoon character named Little Katya guides young artists on a journey through the seven "Elements of Art" in an accessible, clear, and playful manner.

In this illustrated children's book, a whimsical cartoon character named Little Katya welcomes young to the wonderful possibilities represented by the Elements of Art: line, shape, form, space, color, value, and texture. The clear, light-hearted text and simple, playful images combine to take the reader on an informative yet fantastical journey which encourages creative exploration and appreciation.

Katya Ginzburg-Bram was born in Moscow. She has been creating and thinking about art for as long as she can remember. In fact, the character "Little Katya" evolved from her memories of her 5-year-old self. She received a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Illustration and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the Rhode Island School of Design. Mrs. Ginzburg-Bram has been a proud public school Visual Arts teacher for many years. She lives in Providence with her beloved husband and cat.
