Overview
In 1991 a young Turkish officer and a US Army sergeant would get to know each other on the very last night of their training together to become Special Forces Qualified in Ft. Bragg North Carolina. As the officer opened up about himself, it became obvious to the sergeant that not only was the officer suffering from PTSD but also some very serious survivor's guilt that actually went back to his early childhood. A brother in arms would try and offer up what little consolation he could to the young officer about his future as a leader, who would soon have to return to the battlefield and the doubts he had about himself and his abilities.
Description
In 1991 a young Turkish officer and a US Army sergeant would get to know each other on the very last night of their training together to become Special Forces Qualified in Ft. Bragg North Carolina. As the officer opened up about himself, it became obvious to the sergeant that not only was the officer suffering from PTSD but also some very serious survivor's guilt that actually went back to his early childhood. A brother in arms would try and offer up what little consolation he could to the young officer about his future as a leader, who would soon have to return to the battlefield and the doubts he had about himself and his abilities. The insurgency the officer would later face would not only grow its ranks, but its very make up, harkening back to a war once described in antiquity. "The heart of a man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps…" (Proverbs 16:9) *Note: This short story also contains a sample of a previously published novella entitled "Headhunters the Private War" as well as a snippet of a 12 part book that has yet to be published entitled "Tales of Igor and Einar". Also included are the covers and playlists of the author's 2 most recent musical CD recordings.
About the author
Loving father of three wonderful children (Tristan, Jesus and Pablo) Paul was born and raised in San Francisco California. Paul would complete careers in both law-enforcement and the military before turning his attention to musical and literary endeavors. After recording five mostly Latin Jazz musical CDs with mostly original compositions, Paul would publish his first novella entitled "HEADHUNTERS! The Private War (1943-2004)". This short story marks his second partnership with the artist Ben Teeter as the two continue their endeavors together in the literary world.
