About the author
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Cheryl was born and raised in the small town of Salem, OH. She did not have an easy childhood because her mother was widowed and raised five children on her own. She moved to Texas with her husband and found work as a legal secretary at a law firm in downtown Houston. After her divorce, she worked as a school secretary and tended bar on the weekends to provide a better life for her two children. She was remarried in 1999 and her husband accepted a transfer to California where she managed an animal clinic in Yorba Linda. In 2004, her only son Shane was sent to Iraq as a Counter-intelligent Agent, just 3 weeks after his first son was born. She bought our home in Huffman in 2005 that would allow her to be centrally located to Shane (her son), Brandi (her daughter), and all her grandchildren. At the age of 50 she took some criminal justice classes and became a private investigator. On July 13, 2009, her world changed forever! Her son was shot and killed in the line of duty as a law enforcement officer. The only way she could see to go forward was to create a foundation to honor her son. She founded the Shane Detwiler Foundation in 2010. The Foundation has provided scholarships at Sam Houston State University for deserving Criminal Justice students and has made many purchases of much needed equipment for law enforcement agencies. To date, they have purchased a K-9, K-9 vests, officer vests, body cameras, tasers and much more. If you would like to donate to the Shane Detwiler Foundation, please go to www.shanedetwilerfoundation.org. This book was written to honor the memory of her son and 100 % of the proceeds go to the Foundation.
