Description
You don’t have to like football to enjoy reading SILENT COUNT. You don’t have to know American Sign Language to understand the narration. And you don’t have to be able to hear in order to experience the entertaining resonance of SILENT COUNT. SILENT COUNT is the true story of a high school football coach who hears perfectly well, but finds himself coaching the country’s only deaf college football team. Set in our nation’s capitol at Gallaudet University during the fall of 2007, SILENT COUNT is an easy read that will make you smile, chuckle, and even laugh. It will also bring a frown to your face, at times. Share the coach’s unique journey as football becomes a bridge between cultures, a story that neither the coach nor the reader will ever forget!
About the author
Jim Overmier is a native of Annapolis, Maryland. A former junior college quarterback, Jim began coaching high school football in 1996, after resigning his commission as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. In the summer of 2003, he launched Jim Overmier’s Quarterback Academy, a private, quarterback training program for student-athletes who aspired to play the position at the high school level and beyond. He continued to coach high school football, at both public and private schools, until 2013, with the exception of one year: in 2007, Jim ventured into coaching collegiate football when he accepted the position of quarterbacks coach at Gallaudet University. It would become the most unique experience of his coaching career.
