Overview
The fascinating and funny story of how and why a Southern village became a great industrial city.
Description
The stories in this book, Pug Potter's Journal, were originally written as a continuing daily feature in the Daily News of Kingsport (TN). Designed to be read in short takes and on a day to day basis, the material was never plotted for a separate volume. The results, however, are entertaining and give a good character picture of a storyteller from earlier days in our area. Pug himself is a combined portrait of five or six individuals the author knew well and remembers vividly. While the accounts told here may not be completely accurate historically, they were related as personal experiences by those individuals and certainly give a colorful, humorous understanding of the people, the place and the time in which the East Tennessee - Virginia border country and the Tri-Cities area blossomed and began to grow.
