Overview
The goal of this book is that when you are done reading you will have learned some key lessons based on the author's own career in the military, in business, and as a public servant. The author addresses topics concerning the current lack of trust in elected officials and lack of civility in the public sector and what to do about it; strategies for greater accountability to be experienced by public servants; how to achieve enhanced awareness of the pitfalls associated with public service; and the importance of planning and implementing change in our communities. It is through identifying and discussing these issues that a good base foundation can be developed for new courses of action to be taken in this new century.
Description
Public service has always been important to me. I have been active in my community and dedicated to the concept of public service - in theory and action - throughout my entire life. I have made it a point to serve at every chance that I get - and believe too that it is incredibly important to encourage the next generation of public servants in their endeavors. It is my goal that when you are done reading you will have learned some key lessons based on my own career in the military, in business, and as a public servant. I write to address topics concerning the current lack of trust in elected officials and lack of civility in the public sector and what to do about it; strategies for greater accountability to be experienced by public servants; how to achieve enhanced awareness of the pitfalls associated with public service; and the importance of planning and implementing change in our communities. It is through identifying and discussing these issues that a good base foundation can be developed for new courses of action to be taken in this new century. Public service is something that is all encompassing and speaks to many actions, efforts, and commitments. It is a challenging endeavor, on ongoing battle, and a noble cause.
