Overview

"Discovering Jesus in the Least" is a must-read book of inspirational reflections that were prompted by serving and befriending the poor and homeless in a typical urban American setting.

Description

"Discovering Jesus in the Least," is a portrait of the life of veteran soup kitchen and food pantry manager, Chris Ramsey.  The author welcomes the reader into his world through a wide, variety of short inspirational reflections and poignant observations regarding his service to poor and homeless folks in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood.  These writings, compiled over a 25 year period, reveal how serving the urban homeless population is both extremely demanding, as well as incredibly gratifying. This book provides readers an opportunity to learn and grow from Ramsey's viewpoint which can be described as that of a socially, conscious Christian.

About the author

Chris Ramsey has been a member of the Jesus People community in Chicago since 1975. Throughout those 45+ years, Ramsey has been involved in evangelism, writing, chasing rock stars, and serving the poor at Cornerstone Community Outreach, one of Chicago's largest homeless shelters. An eclectic, crazy kind of guy, Chris illustrates how the depths of God's love is shown, not only through his interaction with the poor and homeless, but also in his relationship with Jesus and the challenges inherent to his life's calling. He is happily married to Sandy Ramsey, the executive director of CCO, and has two adult sons, Christopher and Jonathan.
