Overview
As a teenager, a California girl named Halie found herself with a passion for mission work. God showed His will to Halie from the start, even orchestrating a chance meeting with a stranger at a concert who financed nearly all of Halie's mission trips. The next two trips were full of fun and refreshing, and then came the month long trip to Romania where her heart was pierced and deeply moved. She felt her arms were created to hold and care for orphans. Despite her family's resistance to the idea, Halie moved to Romania for six months, believing it to be God's will. Sadly, she was not given permission to care for orphans at the orphanage as she'd hoped, only to help at a local hospital. She returned home, feeling confused and disappointed. However, confirmation after confirmation drew her back to Romania, even though it seemed her opportunity to care for orphans was closed. On the first day back to the hospital, an orphaned baby girl named Casandra had just been brought in and needed extra care. Halie and Casandra's bond grew, and God's power and plan unfolded.

"Called to Casandra" is the powerful memoir of perseverance and service. In the face of challenging obstacles, Halie trusted in God's signs and voice— and He led her to a life of meaning and purpose.
About the author
Halie Wood and her husband are currently the mission's directors of Freedom House Church in Bryon, CA, where Halie also preaches from time to time. Halie has a bachelor's degree in psychology from Liberty University. Halie's messages of faith and being an adopted child of God have touched many hearts. She and her husband, Erik, take teams to Romania to minister. Halie and Erik have adopted four children and hope to start a non-profit to help orphans find forever families; a non-profit where her heart for children and missions can collide. Her motivation for writing the book is to show people how God still moves mountains today, and that they, too, can hear God's voice. When they do, hold tight because they are in for a ride. Halie and her family live part of their year in Romania and the other half in Tracy California.
