Emmanuel Smith is the first of seven children born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. He married Annette Theresa Simms in Jamaica in 1970. They migrated to Canada after they married. While living in Canada he had a Landlord who went to an Apostolic church and every Sunday morning she would invite him to church. He always came up with some excuses as to why he could not attend; however he would send his children. One Sunday his children were performing and his landlord asked him to come see his children perform. He decided he would visit just once to stop her from 'harassing' him. The message that was preached that Sunday morning was taken from Revelation 22:15, the topic was “What in Hell do you want?” The message convicted him as he wanted nothing to do with Hell. He decided to get baptized in the name of Jesus Christ that very same Sunday. When he told his wife she was not pleased with his speedy decision; however approximately two weeks later, she also gave her life to the Lord. Praise Jesus!
After having served under the ministries of Bishop F.H.Davy, Pastor Nunes, and Pastor Audley Castro in Canada, Emmanuel and his wife moved to South Florida in 2000 where they began serving under the leadership of Bishop G. Oliver Barnes in Fort Lauderdale. Over the years, he and his wife has served in Sunday School, Prison, Radio, and Evangelism Ministries. God gave Emmanuel a passion for souls. He says: "You cannot kindle a fire that is not already burning in your own soul". His philosophy is: Win The Lost At Any Cost! Jesus said: "As the father has sent me, so send I you.
In 2008, the Lord led Emmanuel to begin reaching out to lost souls in Coral Springs, Florida. Together they began the ministry of Apostolic Refuge Tabernacle Church. Presently, Emmanuel S. Smith is the pastor, teacher and radio host of Apostolic Refuge Tabernacle, Inc.
